a twenties-inspired watercolor

First thing I've painted in ages! Next... watercolor version of the X-Files poster in Mulder's office. Oh yeahhhh. It's already all penciled out. :D

jamie's dress day

Jamie invited all the girls in the family to go wedding dress shopping with her today - it was lots of fun, thanks for letting us come along! Jamie tried on all kinds of dresses and liked a bunch, but this one was the best of the best, don't you think? O.O We took fabulous pictures before it tried to eat her up:

seventh

I was going to recap my week and realized that 1) the week was not over and 2) I don't remember what happened in it, apart from watching too much Prison Break. And knowing that I got an email that Netflix sent us Date Night. Isn't my life just amazingly complex? I'm not too worried about it, though, I'm sure it will be soon enough and I'm going to wish that Netflix was my biggest concern.

I did patch up my apron, finally. It's a very old apron (which I love to death). It belonged to my sister's husband's step-mother's mother, I'm pretty sure - so, not really in the family, but not a yardsale buy. It's had holes in the front for ages, which is a problem when things splash on you. So I finally patched it while we watched escaped convicts try to evade capture. :)

Henry has been having tea parties with me. Well, its happened twice, anyhow. He's so cute about it, he holds the pot with two hands, one on the handle and one under the spout, like an adult, and pours us cups of water. And I ask him questions like, "so, Henry, how was your day?" and he makes a face and says "hmmmm." Too funny.

I finally brought my film to CVS today, so that will be coming around soon, if any of it is worth looking at. Unfortunately, me and my inexperienced-with-film self accidentally processed a roll that wasn't used. Lame.

Next fun thing? Pottery class is next week, and I'm bringin' my camera.

micah - full post

So Logan and Erin have a baby now. It's a pretty funny thought, really... It's been just the two of them for so long (if you don't count Chi). I spent a lot of time with them last fall, this spring and summer and it's funny to think that they will never go back to that time. If I come to visit, there will be no more waking up too late to get things done, or sitting down to breakfast and not getting up until we realize we're hungry again (aka I realize I'm hungry again) and three hours have been sunk while talking about random things. And now there might be someone in the house who is more demanding about food than I am when I'm there. o.o That's just a possibility, though. ;)

At the risk of being cliché and a bit sentimental, I think Micah will be the best thing that has happened to L&E since they met each other. I can't wait to go stay and see what he's changed and what has stayed the same. (Though, seeing as I haven't barged in and camped out, I am waiting very patiently!)

So, I think Micah is pretty cute. Logan isn't into newborn looks, never has been, but ya know, I don't think they're so bad. Micah is particularly cute, I think, for a newborn...

These pics were taken when Micah was two days old. Logan and Erin were already talking as though they'd had M for weeks. "He usually calms down when I burp him." My favorite line of the day, keyword being "usually."

I love that one.

I'm pretty excited to have a new name in the family - I think it's a fetching name, too. It did take a few days to get used to saying - it's an entirely new name, and it gives an entirely new feeling toward the previously nameless Baby. I've always been into names. I have this book called The Secret Universe of Names that I bought from the sale bin of a bookstore. L&E had it for ages, trying to find names they liked. Turns out, they never considered the name Micah until they were at the hospital and never looked it up in the book. Little did they know that the description of MK named people sounds Logan-ish, no joke. It's eerie.

That was a lot of writing, for me. Golly. Thanks for reading my blog, by the way. :)

P.S. Christina, I have the book waiting for you, so next time we see each other or Mom goes to a meeting, it's all yours!

The preying mantis is back. Remember him from this post? I've had this blog for a quite awhile, haven't I? I mean, awhile for an 18-year-old. It seems like eons ago that I started it, started posting really small pictures taken with Mom's point-and-shoot (I mean no disrespect towards the point-and-shoot, it's an excellent little camera for what it is). I feel older, and yet, when I read the things that I wrote three or four years ago, I find that I'm often still thinking about the same thoughts and taking the same photos, only with different attitudes or views or music powering me.

This weather is amazing. That's my excuse for taking (and posting, what!?) a few self-portraits before my shower, greasy and all - the weather makes me feel awesome, even if I don't look awesome. Makes me pull out my long red dress. And the windows open at night! Love.

I love my bathroom window.

I've been knitting again - ran out of yarn for my tank top, so I moved on to some baby wraps for Sara to use at newborn shoots. Unfortunately, it is in our fiscal interest to use acrylic yarn (soft acrylic), so to take my mind off of the squeaking needles, we've been watching Prison Break. I know, the show is old news, but I think it's great. *coughwentworthcoughmillercough*

For those of you (how many of you are there, anyway?) who didn't see Micah's pictures on Facebook, I'll be posting them later tonight, I think.

fourth

So guys. It's September. The sky knows that, even if you're a little behind on the times. It's been so amazing and blue the past few days, and the nights all chilly and yum. Now, I'm not looking forward to winter at all, but I could live in September and October year around.

Look at that sky!?

The light was so pretty that evening, all even and clear. Quinn took pics of me and Mom... I liked these.
That is my beloved new sweatshirt. From the Gap. It's awesome. Even Quinn wants to wear it.

This pic reminds me of something in the X-Files intro. :)

What do you think of my Michelangelo recreation? God has a sleeve in this remake...

Pictures of Micah are coming, don't worry. But I wanted to post these first, before they got lost in organization. :)

micah

Today was a very September-y day, with a deep blue sky and a chilly-in-the-shade evening. I took lots of pictures, including a few of Micah at his newborn session with Sara. This is my favorite of the pics that I took. He's so sweet. I am planning on making a full post tomorrow... But for now, enjoy his cute little face.
