#transparent

Today was cold. I was hungry and tired most of the day, but I perked up in mineralogy class, like I always do. Our class went on a little tour to the UGA electron microprobe, an ancient but still quite useful machine sporting the colors of a orange creamsicle pop and decorated with years worth of stickers, figurines and tinker toys. The guy who runs the machine showed us how it works, pulled up an image on a flickering analog screen that showed a few microns of mineral sample magnified to a foot in diameter. I won't repeat the details, but it was fascinating that such an old machine, made before PCs, would still be of everyday use to a expert geologist.

I took the trek back to my car on foot with my lab partner so as to avoid the crowed busses. When I finally arrived at home, I wanted nothing more than a shower. The sunset light was shining in through the shower curtain and I wished I hadn't left my phone downstairs, it was a gorgeous sight. But the sun set and when I opened the shower curtain there was the steamy window illuminated by the peach skies.

Aww. Found in the farthest away study room, on a graffiti-covered table.

#dream

#dream

In the morning the sun painted war on her skin and she stalked the young stag who left tracks on her land.

I woke up this morning and played on my phone for awhile. My lock screen is set to the PL365 prompts and so I remembered that today's word was #dream. At that moment, I didn't see the connection between the word and the fact that today is MLK Jr. Day. I figured I would do something later. I opened the blinds and got up to begin the day and happened to walk into the banded sunlight. I've always been obsessed with the banded sunlight in my room... makes normal objects look dreamlike and surreal. The imprint of my desk chair wheel looked remarkably like a deer track.

The words above are a slightly different from my Instagram version.

Perhaps I've Come Back

You know it's been ages since you've updated your blog when your very own web browser can't remember the URL. A sad day indeed.

I've been loving every moment of being at UGA, from riding the bus to meeting the people in my major department. Life is good right now. It's going to take me more than one post to catch up, but I thought I'd start with one before I head to school for some studyin'.

These are all photos from a beautifully rainy day in December. I remember I was cooking/baking most of the day and I wanted to go outside so badly. I finally just threw down my rubber gloves and went out. It was drizzling some of the time, and the light was amazing. My camera is notoriously bad with low-light situations, but I didn't care and I'm glad I shot these anyway.

I'm going to go ahead and start posting my Project Life 365 posts here on the blog, though they are iPhone pictures and I feel like they throw a wrench in the atmosphere of my usual blog photos. No matter, I will be glad I did later. I'll write up a little explanation that goes beyond what I post on Instagram (carolinelarousse is my username there if you'd like to follow me!).

Project Life 365 is a fun challenge and it's never too late to join! Search for Project Life 365 on Facebook or Instagram to follow along!
