August has pretty much been eaten up by school. There was paperwork, orientation, schedule stakeouts, and then finally actual class. I am taking 14 hours - English, Biology + Lab, Geology + Lab and American History (Post Civil War). It's a Monday-Thursday schedule, and two of the classes I share with Logan. It's been fun so far - no big assignments or anything stressful.

August has gone by fast, and the light is already changing as fall creeps up on us. I love fall light, but I'm not looking forward to wearing seven layers. I shouldn't complain, though. Georgia's winters are so warm in comparison to most places in America. 

Media update! Doctor Who begins again TOMORROW. So excited. Also, The Hour (link on sidebar) is an amazing show, I highly recommend it. We started watching Prime Suspect... undecided as of right now. I think it'll prove to be good. 

Hopefully my cold/sinus infection will be better by Monday... I hate thinking that I'm spreading my sickness to all the other students. :( Already got my biology lab partner sick. On a sidenote - I've gotten good grades in all my quizzes so far! :)

I'll try to take pictures more often - been slacking in that department. September always inspires me though, it is my favorite month for photography.

thrift shop find ...+ tomatoes

Do you see this amazing cardigan thing I'm wearing? I bought it today for $3 at a thrift store. It's barely worn, soft and lovely, and best of all, it's by Kimchi & Blue! We were shopping for a black button up for Mom. I'm rifling through the medium women's shirts and blouses section, where I didn't expect to find a shirt that fit Mom, much less a barely worn, once probably $30-$60 Urban Outfitters or Anthropologie cardigan for $3.

All the photos above are by Quinn (with a little direction from me)! I love how they turned out. :) The tomatoes, of course, had to steal the scene. We were right outside the garden, so it was pretty much an imperative. 

And to end, the green beans were begging for a shot...

Some things to mention...

We've been cleaning the house before family comes to visit this weekend. I love cleaning. 

There is something about the curves and angles of a messy bed... It's so attractive. 

Found a stylish mystery novel at the library. 

I picked a million tomatoes last night, and there are still many more to come.

I passed my math placement exam, getting a 74 when all I needed was a 40 to pass.

Admittedly, I'm a little excited about taking classes.

And last but not least, Misfits is awesome (I couldn't have a blog post that doesn't mention TV, now could I?!)

July's already here.

I guess it's really and  truly summer, isn't it? I don't keep track of days very well. I often call some of the spring summer and some of the summer fall and so on and so forth, so when it is actually summer, I question myself. Is it really summer? Yes. Same way with birthdays. By next January, I will be calling myself twenty, and when my birthday comes a few months later, I will be saying - wait, am I really twenty? In fact, I'm going to be in denial come my next birthday, and there will be many many utterings of "Am I really twenty? Holy Lady Gaga." I will be saying the Lady Gaga part because I hear it's all the rage and I want to be hip as I enter my twenties. 

Back to reality. Reality is a funny thing. I was thinking about it last night. I was thinking about reality and about night and about how your thoughts are on a different wavelength at night, they are very very different from what they are in the daytime. And because of that, we often write them off as unreal. But the night is just as real as the day. Sometimes, at night, I feel like I could accomplish absolutely anything in the world. But not usually in the day. Why is that?

Prepare yourself for some Lucy spam, because she's just so darn beautiful. And everyone already knows that I love all the babies to death, so I won't bother trying to weigh out the post with pics of the boys.

Now, here is where the fourth of July should have a place on my blog. However, like usual, I didn't pick up my camera during the holiday. Sara, Griffin and Logan all came over on the fourth and I just... didn't take pictures. Oh well. There were no fireworks, or fires, or crazy celebrations, just dinner and playing with the kids. 

Before I say anything else, I have to thank Christina for giving me some old yarn to make blocks for my blanket! I'm so grateful - I was completely out of yarn and Christina was so sweet as to dig around in her stash for me. I love it all! Thank you so much! I've already knitted two blocks. 

We finished watching Dirty Sexy Money. It was not a good show, but I have to admit that it was entertaining. :) Going back to Justified and Fringe will be very funny now that we've gotten a sip of Natalie Zea and Seth Gabel as completely different characters. Heh heh heh. We started watching George Gently, which is another inspector detective show, but it's set in the 60's. Very well done. Like a cross between Doc Martin, Life on Mars (<3), and Inspector Lynley. Anyone have any shows to mention? Sons of Anarchy, Dexter and Parenthood are on our list, so apart from those?

blueberries & storms

Yes: a big tub of blueberries. That can mean only one thing... that the blueberries are ripe at Buffalo Creek Farm! Last year was the first time we picked blueberries ourselves and we got there a little late, but this year we are prepared to stock up for months! :) We picked 6 gallons of blueberries yesterday morning and a peck of peaches.

The last two days have been stormy in the evenings. Yesterday we drove home from Athens in ridiculously windy rain and hail. It was so bad that we had to pull into a parking lot to wait it out a bit - we couldn't even see the road.

After the storm yesterday it was really cool outside and so Henry and I read on my bed while the cold air came in through the window. It was loooovely.

Then we went outside and made ice cream...

You know, I think Lucy's ears are bigger than Henry's. Hehe. They are so funny together - Henry sticks his face up near her and she just grabs onto it wherever she can as quick as lightening.

So this morning we went to the Farmer's Market. I won't describe the crazy things we did to get there with cash in time to shop before my Pilates class. :P The important thing is that we DID get there, and we did find yummy food to buy, as you can see.

We had another short but wild storm tonight. These crazy clouds started to appear while we were making dinner, accompanied by strong wind and finally some rain. It was short-lived, but the clouds were amazing. These photos are nearly straight out of the camera - the only help they have were a SLIGHT contrast boost - no clarity, color or exposure changes.

We made hot chocolate after dinner, because Mother is awesome and thought of it. We got to use my mugs for the first time, seeing as summer isn't usually the season for hot drinks.

And I'll end with a gorgeous sunset.

No, I lied. I have to mention something else. Remember when I said I was sad not to be obsessed with something - a show, an actor, a band, etc? Well. Now I am. I bloody love Parks & Recreation, Ron F***ing Swanson (his words, not mine), His Mustache, Mumford & Sons, and... can anyone guess? Fassbender. Okay fine, I'll stop talking about Fassbender. But the point here is not that I am sometimes an obsessed fangirl (does anyone here remember how gaga I was for the X-Files?), but that I love being in love with these things. So thank you, Logan & Erin, for finally making me watch Parks & Recreation (and the Office, which made me just as happy) because every time I think of that dimpled, mustachioed face I start grinning.

Oh oh, also, we just started watching Modern Family - too cute. Not obsessed as of yet, but definitely plan on watching the rest of the series. :) I'm a sucker for shows that interview characters. Mom thinks they are all Office copy-cats, but I think they are all genius.
