The beginning of fall.

We woke up the other day to find that it was chilly outside... I guess fall has found us. 

I love fall. I think I love it more than spring. Winter, on the other hand - not a big fan - but I don't let that take the fun out of fall. I love the open windows and the long-sleeves + shorts or tanks + jeans. I love eating fall-ish food, like stew. I love going outside and knowing that it will be gorgeous in every way and that I won't sweat. 

And what I love most of all? Sleeping under three blankets while cold air comes in my open window. That is what I love the best. (Possibly more than anything else, at all, ever.)

Excessive dressing of the babies is fun at first too. We didn't have any warm clothes for Lucy to wear, since the chill came out of nowhere, so we dressed her in Henry's old sweater, a hat I made her earlier this year (from Christina's scrap yarns) and a pair of socks I had tried knitting myself, but were much too small. :)

And on to today's pictures... I cut Quinn's hair right before everyone came for Dad's birthday tonight. It was so amazingly gorgeous out in the yard, so we trimmed in the grass. :)

I am tempted to put up a large picture of Erin's face, but I think she would cease talking to me. ;) Tonight was lovely! Now for studying tomorrow... Biology test on Tuesday morning at the crack of dawn (literally), and our first geology test on Wednesday. It's going to be some science-y studying tomorrow. Also, I handed in my first English paper Thursday... We'll see how that turns out!

September always inspires me (and October; they are glorious months), so with a little determination, you will be seeing more posts from me in the near future. :)

August has pretty much been eaten up by school. There was paperwork, orientation, schedule stakeouts, and then finally actual class. I am taking 14 hours - English, Biology + Lab, Geology + Lab and American History (Post Civil War). It's a Monday-Thursday schedule, and two of the classes I share with Logan. It's been fun so far - no big assignments or anything stressful.

August has gone by fast, and the light is already changing as fall creeps up on us. I love fall light, but I'm not looking forward to wearing seven layers. I shouldn't complain, though. Georgia's winters are so warm in comparison to most places in America. 

Media update! Doctor Who begins again TOMORROW. So excited. Also, The Hour (link on sidebar) is an amazing show, I highly recommend it. We started watching Prime Suspect... undecided as of right now. I think it'll prove to be good. 

Hopefully my cold/sinus infection will be better by Monday... I hate thinking that I'm spreading my sickness to all the other students. :( Already got my biology lab partner sick. On a sidenote - I've gotten good grades in all my quizzes so far! :)

I'll try to take pictures more often - been slacking in that department. September always inspires me though, it is my favorite month for photography.

I really love where I live. 

Some things to mention...

We've been cleaning the house before family comes to visit this weekend. I love cleaning. 

There is something about the curves and angles of a messy bed... It's so attractive. 

Found a stylish mystery novel at the library. 

I picked a million tomatoes last night, and there are still many more to come.

I passed my math placement exam, getting a 74 when all I needed was a 40 to pass.

Admittedly, I'm a little excited about taking classes.

And last but not least, Misfits is awesome (I couldn't have a blog post that doesn't mention TV, now could I?!)

July is already nearly over... I've been slacking off blogging lately, and that's because I've been slacking off photography. And I've not been taking photos because everyday has been so similar to the last day that it is very uninspiring to pick up the camera and find something new to shoot. I rarely take photos I don't like or don't want, so when I'm uninspired, I just don't take photos at all.

And Flickr has distracted me. It's so lovely that Flickr has shown me that people like my work, that more people are now following my blog - but the attention made me forget why I was taking pictures in the first place. To capture what my life is like when I'm taking those pictures. I'm not blogging for my readers, I'm blogging for me. I love getting on here and looking through my pages and pages of posts, and remember different stages in my life, and if I dismiss this downtime I have right now as boring and unworthy of pictures to document it, I will completely forget it existed. So back to taking photos everyday... and more blog posts. :)

Recently, my days have mostly been spent working on my college entrance stuff (paperwork and selecting transferrable classes), watching Korean dramas, cleaning, watering the garden in the evening, picking tomatoes and green beans, checking on our new teenage hens, looking at the unbelievable sunsets, watching TV at night (though now that we have to wait on a new Misfits episode, we're on a bit of a stall...)

Hopefully I will be enrolled in a class or two this fall. I've finally narrowed decision for a major down to Film Studies or Fashion Merchandising. Perhaps I'll do both - or a major and a minor. I'm not sure. Any of my readers do these majors in college, or know someone who has? Esp. at UGA?

I sort of went on a blogging break didn't I? I try not to do that, but sometimes it just happens. This weekend was a very busy one! First, I took the SAT early Saturday morning. The night before I kind of freaked out (I may or may not have ripped an SAT ad into shreds in rebellion against the system), but by the time I woke up ridiculously early, I was cool. Didn't even feel nervous at all, before or during the test.

It's actually quite silly. It's long, yes, but the test administers just read verbatim out of an SAT guide, repeat themselves, and you fill in little circles. I mean, all that hype and it's really quite lame. But then, most man-made things are much lamer than everyone makes them seem.

Here's something most of you probably don't know. I've never taken a test before. :o Not a timed, officially administered test by any educational institution - minus a funny little test I had to take at home when I was like 10 to prove I was home schooled. Anyway, I guess the SAT is as good as any to be my first, and since I'm not aiming to get into Princeton, I'm not worried about it.

It rained during full sun the other day - it was so pretty! And on the same day, Lucy played in a washtub of water. She is so funny. You'd think she would be pretty tame to look at her blue eyes and tiny little face. But she splashes like a banshee, laughing even when Henry violently splashed with her.

So, right after I took the SAT, Mom picks me up and we go straight to a catering job in Madison. It was hot, I had been up since 6am, and for the first part of the morning I felt really lightheaded from the heat. The wedding was okay - lame reception with no alcohol - my feet were killing me by the end and I had drunk five bottles of water just to keep up with the amount of liquid I was sweating. But again, not complaining, I enjoyed it all! :D

We get home - luckily dry receptions end EARLY and we got home not too late. Four to five hours of sleep later and we head out to the Red Dress Boutique's summer fashion shoot! It was really fun. Luckily we got to shooting straight away and managed to all but beat the hot sun. We shot from 6:45 or so til 11:00, pumped out over 30 outfits, split between 5 different girls. Logan shot primarily, while Sara did hair and make-up as snappy as possible before joining us. The girls were so lovely, the garden (owned by Magdalena Williams of European Floral) was so beautiful - everything went so well!

Believe it or not, we were out of there by 1pm. After the girls were finished, we took some time to take off-body shots of outfits and jewelry, then headed home. It was so cool. I was exhausted, but when we came home we watched Doctor Who (holy crap I haven't stopped thinking about that fantastic episode since I watched it) and Justified (gonna miss me some Raylan Givens over the summer). 

This is last night's sky. It went from stunning, to even more stunning, to wow stunning.

So, I'll be working on the pics from the shoot for a few days - maybe you'll get a few that I shot on my blog. I didn't shoot many. I meant to shoot behind the scenes, but the fact of the matter was that I wasn't really behind the scenes much. I sort of dashed back and forth between Sara and Logan, answering questions and keeping track of everything. So there isn't much that I shot, but perhaps you'll see something... :)

Oh! Speaking of not taking pictures - I wish I had brought my camera with me tonight. I left it home because I thought I'd be holding Micah all night. Logan, Erin, Micah and I went to Shakespeare on the Lawn at the Ashford Manor. It was so cute! I only got to see the first act, so I want to go back Friday.
