Quinn.

Today I took pictures of Quinn, which I really rarely do. (For those of you who don't know, Quinn's my younger brother and best friend.) I mean, proper pictures. He wanted to show off his new vest and pants and tie, so I tore my eyes away from my algebra homework (this is gonna be an interesting semester) and went out to the big cedar to take some photos.

You may have noticed, but there are three main photo places on our property. The cedar, the little barn, and the driveway. I used them all. ;)

Quinn is a character... hilarious, odd, imaginative, creative (and sometimes evilly pedantic). Since I draw a blank when taking photos of people--I can find good light and make sure they aren't looking their worst, but can't think of interesting things to do--Quinn made up for it by acting goofy. We took some 150 photos of silliness. :D Here are nine!

That one on the far right middle is his impersonation of Logan (coached by me a bit). Hehehe. ;) Isn't it cool how the sun set while we were taking photos? First it was above my lens height, but slowly sank until there was a sun flare.

He's gotten so tall that I have to stand on that green stool for every shot. Sometimes we end up brushing our teeth at the same time and we look so funny in the mirror together. I used to be so much taller than him back in the day, and now I come up to his shoulder!

When he's not plugged into his computer, this is what Quinn looks like on a daily basis: dressed a bit funny and in the middle of explaining something to me. I thought I should have a few shots of candid Quinn at least.

I might take some more pics tomorrow! We shall see. I feel like we need some more pretty portrait type shots.

love and goodnight,

Griffin, Logan, Buffalo and Cows...

Because Mom needed some new photos of Griffin and he had just bought nearly a wardrobe of deals at J.Crew, Logan and I took photos of Griffin a few days ago (and I took some photos of Logan taking photos). We started in our driveway, then drove around the countryside to get some really gorgeous shots.

This blog post is just my images from the shoot, but Logan put up a mix of both mine and his over at his blog: two kids & a baby | griffin Check them out, it's a really beautiful blog post!

Thanks for modeling and braving the Georgia cold, Griffin! Oh, and bow ties are cool. ;)

Now, onward to preparing for school and drinking enough tea to impress England (a bit sick and a bit cold)...

just right

The weather has been just right for the past three days. Not at all humid, a steady breeze, in the low 70's. We've pretty much been sitting on the porch for two days straight. Today I read nearly a whole book, which felt so good. It feels like I haven't finished a book in years (that's not true, though).

We could even open our doors and windows, shut off the awful air conditioner and revel in the cool - naturally cool - air. I wanted to take pictures to capture the loveliness, but I found it really difficult. Here are my attempts...

That is the birthday card I made for Mom. :) In honor of last movie, of course. It's really just a bunch of Potter-ish things painted with watercolors. :P

I hope you have a lovely night.

breakfast with jordan and other nice things

My best friend Jordan has a lovely house of her own and it was so nice to make breakfast in her new kitchen. We made blackberry scones, grits, sage sausage, fresh squeeze orange juice, fruit & tea. Needless to say, we were stuffed by the end of it. :)

The last few days have felt rather busy, but I suppose it's not been too bad. Besides a fun visit with Jordan, sandwiched between belting out Mumford & Sons on the drive to and from, I've been putting together a photo book of old photos I scanned. We have some Groupons for Blurb that expire on the first, so I'm racing to finish some projects last minute.

I'll put up links to my books when I'm finished... Here are a few more shots from the last few days:

I have to mention something about the last photo. The sky was... amazing. Absolutely amazing. Massive dark storm clouds followed me and Erin as we drove home from Athens. I was a little freaked out at first - I hate getting stuck in the car during a storm - but we made it home fine. The wind started to pick up and a while later Dad noticed that the sunset was throwing these crazy colors into the storm clouds. It was intense.

 Have a lovely night,
