The power went out yesterday during a crazy storm. The wind must have whipped down some telephone poles (because power lines strung up in the skies and through trees is such a good idea). Quinn and I enjoyed ourselves, though. We played Legos by candlelight and ate animal crackers until the power came back on. It felt very silly, but in a lovely sort of way.
So, today Griffin and I went to see X-Men. It was totally worth seeing. I've always liked James McAvoy. And ever since I saw the new Jane Eyre Michael Fassbender has climbed to nearly the top of my favorite actors list. So then there is a movie with these two guys together, rocking their super powers and hunting down a pig-nosed enemy with their little teenage minions... Not to mention Michael Fassbender in sleek 60's attire speaking an array of languages...
It wasn't a great movie in itself, no. It was riddled with plot holes and unlikelihoods, etc, but I will argue that it was just a prequel. And that Fassbender, McAvoy and Bacon were all really good. And heck, the special effects were great. Just the right amount to convince you, but not so much that you are too distracted from the story (ahem, Transfoooormers?).
If you've seen the movie, you should check out gingerhaze.tumblr.com She is an incredible cartoonist who has been making hilarious X-Men comics, as well as Doctor Who and Lord of the Rings... Her X-Men comics have tons of spoilers, though, so if you don't want to know what happens, don't read them yet!
