last day of may

Today I woke up really early, and for no apparent reason, I couldn't go back to sleep. So Mom and I walked and we spotted the neighbor's horses in the woods. They're so pretty.

I also spotted baby mocking birds in a little tree near the barn. That baby bird just sat there with its chin on the edge of the nest while I took pics. Silly thing.

Okay, so we made ice cream again. This one is called Cheesecake Ice Cream and holy cooooow. It is SO good. It's pretty much cream cheese, sugar and lemon juice and it was like eating heaven out of a funny old ice cream maker.

We've been keeping Chi (pronounced Kye, it's short for Chimera) while Griffin and Jamie are on their honeymoon in the Bahamas. She's such a good dog, she's practically transformed from the wild thing she used to be.

Today was the last day of May. Like I said before, excited about the shoot, but dreading that stupid SAT on Saturday. I would hope to get sick or something that day, but I have a catering job I'd rather not jinx. :P

Have a nice first of June!

a taste of the last four days

This weekend I'm taking the SAT. I haven't studied for it since I took the online practice test. I know it's not smart of me. Regardless, the whole test ticks me off and I can't bring myself to spend time thinking about it/studying for it. We'll see how that goes.

More interestingly, the Red Dress Boutique summer fashion shoot is on Sunday and it's going to be awesome. Logan, Erin & I spent hours picking out clothes today for the shoot. Hehe, I can't wait to start designing the lookboooook.

Now for some Justified. :)

Goodnight,

primarily the sandbox

Tonight's post primarily stars the sandbox. :) The other day (was it yesterday?), Erin came to visit with Micah. He is huuuuge. So big and cute and funny. There was lots of sandbox action that day, so I made sure to take pics.

Isn't that just the cutest darned expression ever. Erin was peeking around the pillar at him and he'd noticed and just smiles all adorably at her.

Oh oh oh oh! We finally tried making ranch dressing from scratch! Here is the recipe. It turned out very good! Make sure to wait that 30 minutes before serving.

I helped my best friend Jordan move out of her apartment a few days ago and may or may not have enjoyed wearing some ridiculous things, including a pair of high-heeled, camouflage shoes, this shiny metal mask, and a felted cowboy hat.

See, the sandbox is back. This time it's another baby. You know, there should be a gender neutral word for "niece" and "nephew." You can say grandbaby, you can say sibling, but when it comes to nieces and nephews, you have to pick a gender! It's annoying! I'm going to start calling them "sibbabies": Siblings' babies. Or maybe "siblinglings." Which one do you think?

Anyway, Sara brought Lucy and Henry over today and Lucy was being hilarious in the sandbox. She was growling and throwing sand everywhere - you'd never know that she was such an odd kid by how she looks.

Okay, now my back really hurts so I'm off to bed. I learned how to play backgammon last night after downloading a free backgammon game to my iPod. It's quite fun, really.

'Night!

so now it's hot

Yesterday I happened to cater the same wedding that Sara & Logan were shooting. It was so hot! I had to wear black jeans, black socks, black shoes, a button-up that was buttoned all the way up, and a tie. Oh, and an apron. And then fry food. That sounds like complaining, but really I enjoyed it, no joke. I like a little suffering now and then, it makes me feel good when I fall asleep that night. :)

So, what's up with this weather? Only days ago I had on sweats! And then I'm sweating buckets at a wedding. What the heck? Today was toasty as well... I think summer has pounced.

Tomorrow I'm going to Good Dirt to put handles on the mugs I made in class last week. I've been told that I "live the life." I'm inclined to agree. :) That's why I decided to blog tonight, instead of reading myself to sleep. It won't last, this easy life, when blogging is something I can almost always find time to do. So I thought I should at least make sure to document as much of it as possible.

Love,

P.S. My succulent plant thing is so cute. It all grew in one direction toward the window light for awhile, so I turned it around, and now some of the stems have changed direction, some haven't, and it's all twisty looking. Hehe.

rearrangement (again)

My room got rearranged again today. I am getting really adept at doing this - I did it all relatively quickly! I'm going to be a packing/moving pro. I reorganized my little bookcase alphabetically. :P I don't own everything on this bookcase - in this photo, I own Extremely Loud, A Room With a View, Inkheart, Goose Girl, Twilight, and Anne of Green Gables. These are some of my favorite books (I only own my favorites), but on this shelf, another favorite is Freaks (I'm going to give it back, Jordan, I prooomise).

I always put on my ooooldest clothes when I clean. And you know, it's not so much because I don't want to mess up new clothes, but my oldest clothes are my most comfiest. Comfiest is a word?!

This is a quote from The Four-Hour Work Week - interesting book that I never finished... I don't think I quite agree with his philosophy, but it has some valuable (really valuable) advice. One of the main points was that streamlining your life gives you free time, so always ask yourself, are you doing useless things? It's extremely effective for me.

You have no idea how much I love our tree.

Okay, so now me and Mom are going to watch the last three episodes of Bones:

We like to store them up with this show (it's only good when watched back-to-back), so goodnight!

new

Today I:

Went to the dentist, who reminded me that my mouth is too small for my ever-growing wisdom teeth. :(

Bought three new shirts (at the Loft Outlet). :)

Went to the Gap Outlet store, which really creeps me out, and so I boycotted them by deciding not to buy their lame clothes. :(

Drove by myself for the first time, to my new pottery class. :|

Driving by myself was interesting. Seeing as I got into the whole driving thing kind of late, it seems like a very large step to be able to drive around by myself. It was kind of scary to be alone in the car, I'll admit it. I mean, you're driving, and there is no one in the passenger's seat. It's kind of lonely. On the upside, it is very nice not to have to involve other people in your trips.

I had no other pictures for today, so you get to see some of my pottery.

Lots of love,

escape!

Firstly: I am officially licensed to... drive! If I wanted, I could hijack Mom's car and come visit you, whoever you are! :)

Secondly: Why is it so chilly outside? I had on sweat pants and my Gap sweatshirt today. I was all shades of gray and it was very wintery. Hrm.

Thirdly: The reason that my blog has been quiet for a few days was due to allergies. I have been stuck inside for fear of an attack and that really puts a damper on photography. However, my allergies are getting better, so I escaped the house today!! Whooooooooo! So excited.

I've started sewing my Ugly Betty Blanket together. :) Yay! It's going to be amazing. And its kind of fun to put together. We've been rewatching Friends (love that darn show) and I've been sewing pieces together on the floor.

I cut Quinn's hair today while Mom was gone. :) It's short, but not because of my newly acquired skillz... it's short upon request!

Griffin & Jamie found this cool pen holder on Etsy for me, for my birthday. It goes around your journal and holds pens and pencils! I've always needed something like this. I've tried tying pens on with string, or whatnot, but it never seems to stay. Thanks so much guys!

I got out my paints again the other day. I found four different photos, two from Anthropologie catalogues, two from a Julianne Moore shoot for Talbots. These two photos are of the Anthropologie-based paintings, though all four paintings are actually on one sheet of paper. :)

Today was just so beautiful. I was so happy to be outside without sneezing my brains out!

So, lastly, there was a female peacock on our yard today. I WISH I could have taken a photo of her, but she was too far away, on the opposite side of the yard. By the time we walked over, she had snuck into the brush. No idea where she came from, or how she got here. How cool is that?!

See ya tomorrow,
